Why your event needs some personal branding

If you’re throwing a party, what’s the first thing you think about? The venue? The cake? The music?

Recently we’ve been finding it’s the theme party-throwers are thinking about before anything else. We’re seeing a new trend for a fully ‘branded’ party experience that wows on social media and gets people talking.

So as more and more clients turn to us for event branding inspiration, we thought we’d give you some tips to help you plan your party theme to perfection.

Where to look for inspiration

Spend some time gathering ideas and think about the general style you’re after. Do you want to go glitzy glam? Chic modern? Vintage or frivolously fun?

Collecting screenshots and magazine cuttings to create a mood board for your party is a great way to decide what works and what doesn’t:

  • Think about the type of party you’re organising and who will be invited.
  • Who are you throwing the party for? What are their likes and dislikes?
  • Search Pinterest for colour scheme inspiration and thoughtful touches.
  • Check out Instagram hashtags like #partydecor, #partyinspiration and #partystylist as well as searching for others linked to your specific type of party.
  • Read recent women’s or interiors magazines to suss out current and forecasted trends.
  • Browse Etsy for ideas ranging from selfie props to gift bag items.

How to create a cohesive theme

Once you’ve got an idea of the overall direction the party theme is going in, it’s time to get down to the details.

Your first decision should be the colour scheme. Here’s our top tip: don’t over complicate it! Choose a palette of three colours at the most – one base colour like white, grey or black, one key colour and an accent (ok, maybe two accents, if you must).

Next, decide on the fonts you want to use for invitations, menus etc. The main thing is that the font you choose is clear enough to read easily. We suggest pairing an attractive serif font for headers with a plainer sans serif for easy readability. Canva has some great articles about choosing and pairing fonts.

And finally, decide on your motif. With this, anything goes, so enjoy letting your imagination go. Do you fancy prosecco bottles? Peonies? Penguins? Pineapples? Other things that don’t start with a P?! The options are endless.

There are so many great, high quality party props and decorations available these days. It doesn’t have to be difficult. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be expensive.

From off-the-shelf party packs or downloadable templates, to a fully bespoke designed-for-you service, there’s something to suit everyone. Throw in a brilliant bash has never been easier.
